Athletic Philosophy
Participation in middle school athletics allows students in grades 5-8 to develop physical skills, learn game strategies, and most importantly, put into practice the concepts of commitment, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
Participation
At Open Window School, we provide opportunities for students to try as many sports as possible and support developing skills in each sport. Students of all abilities are encouraged to register. We guarantee playing time for all athletes. Our coaches are also teachers at the school. Many have been coaching for multiple seasons and understand the needs of Open Window students.
For our team sports we try to schedule matches against schools with students who have similar skill levels to ours to make the matches as competitive as possible.
Students are transported by bus to and from away meets and matches.
Length of Season
Each middle school season is between 8-10 weeks in length. We have shorter seasons to allow students to participate in multiple sports/activities throughout the year, and still allow enough time to improve skills, make friends, play competitive matches, and have fun.
Level of Commitment
Students must attend at least one day of our two scheduled days per week. If students cannot commit to both days, they must communicate this information to the coach and Athletic Director.
Cost to Participate
The cost of each sport is $250. There is an additional uniform cost of $65 for students who have not previously been a part of one of our middle school athletic teams.
