After School Programs

After School Care

Open Window School offers a morning and after school care program for all students as well as a wide variety of enrichment classes and athletic teams in its After School Program.

Morning care is offered 7:30 to 8:20AM daily.
After school care is offered from 3:30 to 6:00PM.

During this time students are able to participate in a variety of unstructured activities. Each day, students can choose from various arts and crafts, games and outdoor time. There is also an area provided to work on their homework. Our after care program is staffed by 3 permanent aftercare staff.

Study hall is available for third  through eighth grade students in the Library Learning Commons. Hours for study hall are 3:30 to 4:30PM. At 4:30PM, students who are still in Study Hall join aftercare.

A program fee is charged for athletics and enrichment classes. Parents may purchase punch cards in 10, 40, or 70-hour allotments, or pay on a drop in basis for our before & after care and study hall programs.

Open Window offers additional after school enrichment activities that are led by faculty/staff or outside professionals. Programs are organized on a trimester, semester, or annual basis. The following are examples of choices offered to students last year:

Middle School Athletics

Open Window School is a part of the Cascade Middle School League and compete against other local independent middle schools in the following sports:
Fall – Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, and Soccer
Winter – Boys and Girls Basketball
Spring – Tennis, Track & Field, and Ultimate Frisbee
Athletic Philosophy
Participation in our Middle School athletics allows students in grades 5-8 to develop physical skills, learn game strategies, and most importantly, put into practice the concepts of commitment, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.

At Open Window School we want to provide opportunities for our students to try as many sports as possible and develop their skill level in each. Students of all abilities are encouraged to register and we guarantee playing time for all our athletes. Our coaches are teachers at the school and have been coaching here for multiple seasons. They fully understand the needs of our students.

For our team sports we try to schedule matches against schools with students who have similar skill levels to ours to make the matches as competitive as possible.

Students are transported to and from away meets and matches by bus.

Length of Season
Each Middle School season is between 8-10 weeks in length. We have shorter seasons to allow students to participate in multiple sports/activities throughout the year, and still allow enough time to improve their skills, make friends, play competitive matches, and have fun.

Level of Commitment
Students must attend at least one day of our two scheduled days per week. If students cannot commit to both days, they must communicate this information to the coach and Athletic Director.

Cost to Participate
The cost of each sport is $240. There is an additional uniform cost of $65 for students who have not been a part of one of our Middle School athletic teams.
Open Window School provides a challenging academic curriculum blended with nurturing support from teachers that prepares students for long-term success.
