Parent Involvement

Combined with an excellent curriculum, outstanding teachers, and a supportive peer group, parents and guardians contribute extensively to the educational and social opportunities that Open Window School students enjoy. There are so many opportunities for parents and guardians to make new friends and play an important role in our community, from home or on campus, during the day, evening or weekend. Volunteering at Open Window can take many forms, and they are all coordinated by our Parents & Guardians Association.

In addition to volunteering, parents and guardians have frequent communication with their child's teachers as well as scheduled fall and spring teacher conferences. The school's weekly newsletter, "The Bobcat Weekly," is emailed to families every Thursday and provides a comprehensive one-stop view of important school information. A password-protected portion of our website, known as "My Open Window," offers additional information regarding each student's classes and activities as well as a convenient way for families to access school information.

The Open Window School Parents & Guardians Association supports and enhances the mission of the school. The PGA works to create a vibrant parent community and promote a healthy learning environment through the sponsorship of community social events, parent education programs, coordination of volunteer support, and community service.

Current parents and guardians are automatically members of the Parents & Guardians Association. The PGA recognizes that the Open Window community is enriched by the variety of talents, resources, and experiences that each family brings to the school. We sponsor an array of mission-related programs and events throughout the school year for education, community service, and fund-raising. We encourage parents and guardians to get involved with these events, which directly enhance your child’s educational experience at Open Window.

The Parents & Guardians Association meets monthly on Friday mornings, and meetings are virtual and in-person, as well as recorded for families who cannot attend.
