The admissions process is designed to give families the opportunity to determine ifOpen Window may be a good fit for your child and your family. If you have any questions along the way, please don't hesitate to reach out to the admissions office. We begin accepting applications on October 1, 2022.
Schedule time to learn more about our school. Create an account through Ravenna, and choose Open Window School to "explore". This will allow you to register for a tour or virtual parent information session that works for your schedule. While the tour and information session are slightly different, we do not expect families to attend both.
Schedule your child’s IQ examination with a licensed psychologist. You can submit the IQ results directly to Open Window via postal mail or email, or you can request the psychologist send it to us. Test results are valid for two years.
We suggest scheduling this as soon as possible, as many examiners are very booked out. While our preference is for in-person testing, we will accept virtual administrations. If the cost of an IQ test is a barrier for your family, financial support is available. Please contact admissions@ows.org to learn more.
We value the opportunity to get to know your child and your family better, and have time slots available for parents/guardians who have additional questions that are specific to their child(ren) as well as a chance to answer any questions that you have about our program and our community. This is not a required portion of the application. You must have attended either a tour or information session prior to this conversation.
Translators are available upon request. Contact the Admissions Office to arrange.
Delegate your child’s current teacher to fill out a teacher evaluation through Ravenna. We suggest completing this step as soon as possible to allow your child’s teacher plenty of time to complete the evaluation.
Print and sign a records request form through Ravenna and turn into your child’s current school. We ask for a report card from the current school year, as well as records from the previous two years. Open Window requires standardized achievement test results (ITBS, ERB, MSP, etc). If your child has not had standardized achievement testing administered through their current school, please contact the Admissions Office.
Open Window School provides a challenging academic curriculum blended with nurturing support from teachers that prepares students for long-term success.
