How to Apply

The admissions process is designed to give families the opportunity to determine if Open Window may be a good fit for your child and your family. If you have any questions along the way, please don't hesitate to reach out to the admissions office. We begin accepting applications on October 1, 2018.

List of 9 items.

  • Create an Account

The first step in the application process is to create an account on Ravenna, the online application system Open Window School uses. Once you have created an account, search for Open Window School to get started. Families can use Ravenna to manage their application from start to finish, including registration for parent tours or open house, submitting preliminary and supplemental application forms and scheduling applicant visits.
  • Visit Us

Once you are marked as "exploring" Open Window in Ravenna, you will be able to register for a parent tour and/or our Open House. If you have applied and/or toured previously, you are welcome to visit us again, but it is not a requirement.
  • Schedule IQ Testing

Schedule your child’s IQ examination with a licensed psychologist. You can submit the IQ results directly to Open Window via postal mail or email, or you can request that the psychologist send it to us. Test results are valid for two years.
  • Application

The preliminary application, application fee of $65 and parent/guardian statement are required of all applicants. Applicants to our middle school are also expected to complete a student activities form, short answer response, and essay.
  • Teacher evaluation

Delegate the teacher evaluation form to your child’s current teacher through Ravenna. Applicants to our middle school are required to have two teacher evaluations. We suggest completing this step as soon as possible to allow your child's teacher plenty of time to complete the evaluation. Evaluations should be completed by the end of January.
  • Student Records

Submit a records request form to your child's current school (available on Ravenna). We ask for a report card from the current school year, as well as records from the previous two years, if applicable. We understand that applicants to kindergarten may not have any records and are willing to waive this requirement
  • Additional Records

For applicants to 3rd grade and above, Open Window requires standardized achievement test results (ITBS, ERB, MSP, etc). If your child has not had standardized achievement testing administered through his/her current school, please contact the Admissions Office. We also require either the SSAT or ISEE for applicants to our middle school.
  • Applicant Visit

The applicant visit is your child's opportunity to see Open Window, and our chance to get to know him/her. Applicants to K-2 visit on Saturdays and applicants to 3-8 visit during the school day. Once the preliminary application and application fee have been submitted, you may register your child for a visit.
  • Submit Financial Aid Application

Applicants interested in applying for financial aid must submit the financial aid application through School and Student Services (SSS) for Financial Aid by February 7, 2019. Find out more about financial aid here.
