Parent Education Series: Thriving in Turbulent Times: Parenting Gifted Learners with Calm and Confidence

Virtual
Our children are growing up in an era of rapid change - technological leaps, polarization, and constant access to information that can amplify uncertainty and stress. As the world shifts, human skills - empathy, communication, emotional awareness, and the ability to stay steady through challenge - are more important than ever.

This two-part workshop series, led by facilitators from the Institute for Social and Emotional Learning (IFSEL), offers parents and caregivers practical tools to nurture these essential capacities at home. The sessions build on.

Part 1 of 2 - October 27, 2025 5PM PT / 6PM MT / 7PM CT / 8PM ET

“Big Moments - Bringing Calm When Emotions Run High”
Parenting gifted children often means navigating intensity - of thought, feeling, and
reaction. This session introduces frameworks and practical approaches for understanding and managing emotions, both our own and our children’s, and for maintaining calm and connection when emotions run high.

Part 2 of 2 - April 27, 2026 5PM PT / 6PM MT / 7PM CT / 8PM ET

“Growing Together – Communication, Curiosity, and Confidence in Uncertain Times”

As our children encounter new academic, social, and global challenges, they need models of communication that balance empathy with honesty and curiosity with confidence. This session explores how to support children in navigating productive struggle, tolerating uncertainty, and developing the skills to listen, speak, and connect meaningfully across differences.
Together, these sessions offer opportunities to strengthen the home - school partnership, deepen emotional resilience, and cultivate the grounded, compassionate presence that helps children thrive in complex times.
