SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING IN MIDDLE SCHOOL

Developing self-awareness, empathy, and leadership. Every day.

At Open Window, our Skills and Mindsets (SAM) program is designed to help Middle School students navigate social emotional growth with confidence, compassion, and a deepening sense of self.

As a Responsive Classroom school, how we learn is as important as what we learn. Each student belongs to a small advisory group that meets daily. These trusted spaces help students build relationships, develop executive functioning skills, and start the day grounded and supported. Advisory courses dive into age-appropriate SEL lessons, covering topics like emotional regulation, identity, healthy relationships, lifelong wellness and ethical decision-making.

WE KNOW THAT GIFTED STUDENTS OFTEN EXPERIENCE DEEP FEELINGS AND ASYNCHRONOUS DEVELOPMENT.

At Open Window, students learn how to advocate for what they need, how to care for themselves and others, collaborate, and lead with integrity.
