HOW TO APPLY

Choosing a school for your child is a big decision, and we’re here to make the process as easy as possible.

Whether you’re learning about gifted education for the first time or you’ve been exploring options for a while, our admissions team is ready to support you.

Below is a step-by-step overview of the admissions process.

Have questions? Please reach out via Email

1. Learn More and Tour Our Campus
Create an account on Aryval and select Open Window School to explore. After you’ve created your account on Aryval , you’ll be able to register for a tour, which is a required part of the admissions process. New dates are added regularly, so check back often or email us at admissions@ows.org if nothing works for your schedule.
2. Schedule an IQ Test

All applicants must complete an IQ test administered by a licensed psychologist. Visit our Required Testing page for more details.

Results must be submitted directly by your IQ examiner before your child can attend a visit day.

Tests are valid for two years.

Financial assistance for testing is available. Please contact us at admissions@ows.org to learn more.

3. Submit the Application and Fee

Complete your child’s application through Aryval  and pay the $70 application fee.

If the application fee is a hardship for your family, please email us at admissions@ows.org

4. Complete the Parent Questionnaire
Tell us more about your child, your family, and your hopes for their learning experience by completing this form on Aryval.
5. Optional: Schedule a Conversation with Admissions
After attending one of our campus tours, families often have more specific questions specific to their situation. We encourage families to meet one-on-one with our admissions team during this stage of the application process. While not required, many families find these conversations valuable. You can schedule a one-on-one conversation through Ravenna once you have attended a campus tour.
6. Submit Teacher and School Administrator Evaluations
Ask your child’s current teacher and school administrator to each complete the online evaluations through Aryval. We recommend doing this early in your admissions process to give them ample time.
7. Student Visit

We love meeting our applicants! And we want them to have an opportunity to experience our program firsthand.

Lower School (K–4): Saturday visits in January and early February

Middle School (5–8): Weekday visits during late fall and early winter

We will work with your family to establish your visit date once the application is complete.

8. Request School Records

Download and submit a records request form through Aryval to your child’s current school.  School records must be submitted directly by the school, and the school can either submit via Aryval or via email to admissions@ows.org.  We ask for:

  • Current year report card or progress report (once available at the end of the semester)
  • Records from the past two years (for grades beyond kindergarten)
  • Standardized test results (SBA, MAP, ITBS, ERB, etc.) (for grades 4-8)
    • If your current school does not perform standardized testing, please schedule the WIAT-4, KTEA-3, ISEE or SSAT through a psychologist or other licensed examiner.

If your child hasn’t completed standardized testing through their current school, contact us at admissions@ows.org for next steps.
