THE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL FINANCIAL MODEL
HOW INDEPENDENT SCHOOL FUNDING WORKS
As a private, not-for-profit school (and registered 501(c)(3) charity), Open Window relies on both tuition and philanthropic contributions to meet our annual operating budget. While tuition covers about 87% of our expenses, it doesn't cover everything. This creates a gap that needs to be filled to maintain the exceptional education and programs we offer.
You might wonder, "Why not just raise tuition to cover all costs?"
Great question! Raising tuition to fully cover operating expenses could make our school unaffordable for some families, altering the diverse and vibrant community we cherish. We strive to set a reasonable tuition and offer financial assistance, ensuring Open Window remains accessible to a wide range of gifted learners.
By asking families who have room in their personal budgets to give generously above tuition, we can bridge the gap while keeping our community inclusive. Plus, unlike tuition, donations are tax-deductible. Your generosity not only supports the school but can also provide you with tax benefits. |
Every student benefits from a strong culture of giving. That's why we encourage participation from all families, along with alumni, grandparents, and community members. High participation demonstrates a collective commitment to our school's mission and underscores the strength of our community.
Together, tuition and giving ensure that Open Window can continue to offer exceptional programming, retain outstanding educators, and provide meaningful financial aid today and for generations to come.
