Why Giving Matters

WHY PHILANTHROPY MATTERS

Delivering an extraordinary education takes more than tuition.

Like most independent schools, Open Window relies on philanthropic support to bridge the gap between tuition and the true cost of delivering our exceptional program.

Tuition covers approximately 80% of our annual operating expenses. The rest comes from the generosity of our community—parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends—who believe in the power of this education.

Your gifts directly support what makes Open Window extraordinary: small class sizes, passionate educators, robust student support, innovative curriculum, and the kind of hands-on, whole-child learning that helps gifted students thrive. Philanthropy also fuels financial aid, ensuring more families can access an Open Window education, and invests in faculty development, campus enhancements, and strategic priorities that keep our school vibrant and future-ready.

Giving is about sustaining our mission. Every contribution, no matter the size, reflects a shared belief in what’s possible when bright, curious students are seen, supported, and inspired.

OPEN WINDOW FUND

Like most independent schools, tuition at Open Window does not cover the full cost of a student's education. That's why we come together as a community each October for Open Window Fund. Donations to the Open Window Fund support the annual operating expenses that provide exceptional teachers, innovative curriculum designed for gifted students, and authentic learning experiences. We invite our entire community to support the Open Window Fund in October in a way that is personally meaningful to their family.

Auction
Like the Open Window Fund, Auction proceeds support our current year’s operating budget, fueling the people and programs that make our school exceptional. Each spring, our adult community gathers for an evening of community, celebration, and generosity.
Capital and Special Projects
These projects fund strategic priorities such as facility enhancements and program expansion. Open Window is currently in the middle of a multi-year campaign to support a new K-8 library, a Lower School multipurpose space, a dedicated Lower School visual art studio, and additional Middle School instructional space. It will also strengthen our endowments for financial aid and professional development.
Volunteering

There are many ways for parents and guardians to get involved and support the Open Window Community through volunteering. From helping in the classroom to planning events or supporting behind the scenes, there is something for everyone!
