For more than 40 years, Open Window School has been a leader in gifted education, dedicated to guiding curious students who bring imagination, intensity, and a deep love of learning to everything they do.
It can look like a student designing an AI bee tracker, immersive spoken word poetry, or respectfully challenging the school to use sustainable paper products with a persuasive, handwritten letter. From student designed projects to immersive learning, students are guided by exceptional teachers who support, develop, and nurture their talents and who they are becoming. Through research-based strategies for teaching and curriculum design, students' heads and hearts are enriched as they develop into resilient scholars and self-advocates.
In the classroom this sounds like conversations filled with big ideas, thoughtful questions, and students learning to use their voices with confidence.

Open Window School is a recognized leader in gifted education, both locally and nationally. Over the past three years, we have:
- Served as a charter member of and leading driver in the development of the Association of Independent Schools for Gifted Students (AISGS).
- Participated actively in the Washington Association of Educators for the Talented and Gifted (WAETAG), including our Head of School serving on the board.
- Hosted the WAETAG Spring Summit on our campus.
- Sponsored keynote addresses at the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) conference.
- Welcomed nationally renowned speakers for faculty professional learning and development, including author, blogger, and college professor Dr. John Spencer; author and podcaster Emily Kircher-Morris; and professors from the College of William and Mary Center for Gifted Education.
- Participated in an international delegation on gifted education to the Sultanate of Oman.
