What Does Tuition Cover?

Open Window's tuition covers the full school day program including all technology devices and all trips (both day trips and overnight trips). Transportation, lunch, after school, and enrichment activities (including sports) are optional services billed separately, as not all families use them.

Am I Eligible For Financial Aid?

Financial aid awards at Open Window are based primarily on demonstrated financial need as determined through Clarity, and availability of funds approved annually by the Open Window Board of Trustees. Several factors are considered as we determine a family's level of financial need, including (but not limited to):

  • Income
  • Family members enrolled in tuition-paying schools
  • Family size
  • Net worth
  • Unusual expenses (e.g., unreimbursed medical expenses)

Who Should Apply for Financial Aid?

Our answer is simple: if you feel that your student may need assistance to attend Open Window, we encourage you to apply. The complexity of the financial aid formula means we cannot provide analysis or prediction without a full application, but we welcome all families who believe they may be eligible to do so.

What is Included in Financial Aid?

For families receiving financial aid, assistance is awarded as a percentage of tuition and applies at that same percentage to transportation and enrichment activities. Families receiving aid also receive a 50% discount on after school programs. Lunch costs are not covered by financial aid.

Where do I apply for tuition assistance?
Families can apply for aid using Clarity.
What is the Clarity code for Open Window School?
Open Window School’s Clarity code is 8834.
Does Open Window School provide full tuition assistance?
At Open Window School, families who receive tuition assistance are expected to contribute to tuition at some level. For that reason, we do not award 100% of tuition.
What percentage of tuition is awarded?
Reflecting the wide range of financial needs in our community, current tuition assistance awards range from 4% - 93% of an individual tuition.
Does the Admissions Office take into consideration that I’m applying for tuition assistance when they decide whether my child is eligible for being admitted?
Admission decisions are made based on a variety of factors. A student’s eligibility for admission is assessed separately from the tuition assistance process, and the Admissions Committee is not aware of whether a family has applied for tuition assistance.
Who is aware that my child receives tuition assistance?

We recognize that the tuition assistance process involves personal financial information, and we treat it with the highest standards of confidentiality. Applicants are evaluated for eligibility for admission before any tuition assistance information is shared with the admissions office. Tuition assistance applications and award decisions are reviewed only by the Tuition Assistance Committee as part of the approval process. The school does not disclose a family’s financial status to teachers or other families.

In the case of separated and/or divorced parents, the school will not share either parent’s financial disclosures with the other parent. We safeguard tuition assistance applications, records, and decisions, while respecting each family’s right to discuss its own tuition assistance outcomes in an appropriate manner.

Do families get tuition assistance every year?
Because financial circumstances can shift from year to year, families must apply by the deadline each year to be considered for tuition assistance for the following school year. Award amounts continue to depend on demonstrated need, the number of tuition assistance applicants, and available funds.
When is the deadline to apply for tuition assistance?
Submit the tuition assistance application materials by January 31st to be eligible for the following year. This is separate from the admissions application deadline of January 14th.
Our family is made up of multiple households. Which household should submit the tuition assistance application and supporting documents?

Tuition assistance at Open Window is determined by a family’s ability to meet educational expenses. The school’s policy is that divorced or separated parents retain the obligation to contribute to their child’s education unless one parent has legally been granted sole custody of the student and assumes all financial obligations for that child. The assets of both parents will be considered before making any award, and an assertion that one parent has disclaimed responsibility, without legal authority, for educational expenses does not apply. If either parent has remarried, we will also consider the assets of the stepparent, while bearing in mind the obligation of that stepparent to his or her own natural children.

The income and assets of all parents and guardians who have never been married or who are separated or divorced will be used to determine the family’s need for aid.
