OPEN WINDOW SCHOOL TEACHERS ATTEND INNOVATIVE LEARNING CONFERENCE
This spring, several members of our faculty traveled to California for the Innovative Learning Conference at The Nueva School, one of the leading gatherings for educators thinking deeply about where learning is headed.
They came back with a lot to sit with. Middle School Social Studies Teacher Lizeth Gutierrez, Ph.D., reflected on what it means to build genuine trust and belonging in the classroom: "A teacher doesn't use power to control but instead uses it to support and elevate students by giving them voice, encouraging risk-taking, and making space for their ideas."
Our teachers also returned with a more open mindset toward AI, seeing it not as a threat to learning, but as a prompt to design experiences that emphasize deeper thinking, creativity, and real intellectual engagement.
